A Detox Diet, also known as a cleansing diet, aims to remove toxins and poisons from your body by eating only natural and unprocessed food. There are many kinds of detox diets but can be summarized only into three methods which are: to minimize the amount of chemicals ingested, encourage eating foods that provide the vitamins, nutrients, and antioxidants that the body needs for detoxification and, taking in a lot of high fibre foods and water to increase the frequency of bowel movements and urination. Detox diets are claimed to give you clearer skin and boost your energy, improve digestion, regularize bowel movements, helps you loose weight and increase concentration and clarity.

But before jumping into the diet because of its many desirable effects, you have to be careful as there can be some side effects. There are also some people who are not allowed to go on this diet like pregnant women or those suffering from anaemia, diabetes, kidney disease, thyroid disease, autoimmune disease or certain genetic diseases.
